Veterinarians
Dr. Tim Weisenberger
Graduated from Michigan State College of Veterinary Medicine in June of 1991. After 6 years of working in Michigan’s thumb, Dr. Tim and his then-wife moved to Chesaning and purchased the veterinary clinic from Dr. and Mrs. Pearson on April 1, 1997. Dr. Tim is one of our large animal doctors so he spends most of his day on the road traveling to farms for veterinary calls. In his free time away from the clinic, he has a large beef farm in New Lothrop that he enjoys managing.
Dr. Melissa Vermette
The journey to becoming a veterinarian began in the small town of Clio, Michigan at the age of 5, after being tackled by a litter of squirming, snuggly puppies. Since that time, every decision was dedicated to pursuing a career in veterinary medicine. Dr. Vermette, affectionate and known as Dr. V, received a bachelor’s degree in zoology from Michigan State University and obtained her doctorate degree in veterinary medicine from Iowa State University in 2016. From there, Dr. V headed out west to Southern California and practiced medicine in a corporate setting for roughly 2 years. Missing home, and realizing she wasn’t a big city girl, Dr. V moved back to Michigan to continue her veterinary journey.
She gained 3 years of experience while working at another local clinic, before finding her “family” with Animal Health Care of Chesaning. Dr. V’s true passion is bettering the lives of those without a voice. While she dances to the beat of her own drum, you won’t find a bigger animal lover than Dr. V. She can’t wait to meet your furry friend!
Dr. Kate Wagnitz
Dr. Kate earned a bachelor’s degree in animal science from Michigan State University in 2017 and her doctorate of veterinary medicine from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2021. Dr. Kate is our mixed animal veterinarian that sees both the small animals in the clinic and large animals in the clinic or at the farms. Dr. Kate grew up in a small rural town in Livingston county where her family dog Bella Blue still resides. Her favorite animals to see are dogs and goats. In her spare time, Dr. Kate enjoys reading and “binging” her favorite shows on HBO and Netflix.
Dr. Cindy Weisenberger
Dr. Weisenberger grew up in rural Wisconsin. She graduated from Michigan State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1991. She is passionate about helping pets live their best and most comfortable lives as they enrich our lives equally. She feels fortunate to love what she does and looks forward to going to work every day. She loves cats and thinks that everyone should have at least one, they are simply amazing! When she’s not at work she enjoys traveling, bike riding, hiking, and kayaking sometimes solo but usually with a friend. She has 2 grown sons, 3 cats, and a dog that she absolutely loves.
Staff
Amanda
Hi, I’m Amanda. I have been a receptionist at Animal Health Care since July of 2000. I find joy in helping our clients and patients in any way possible. That can be helping schedule an appointment, refilling meds, or your pets life’s heavier moments. My other great joys in life are my husband, daughter, and a hairy marshmallow (Liam). When I’m not at work I enjoy running, kayaking, watching my daughter play sports, and simply being present with my family. Remember, I’m just a phone call away if you or your furry companions need anything.
Teri
Teri is our head technician at Animal Health Care. She is a graduate of New Lothrop, and a 1989 Veterinary Technician graduate from MSU. Teri originally worked as a technician in the Corunna/Owosso area from 89-97 until she joined the health care team on its opening day in 1997. Her primary roles include surgery technician, dental technician, and laboratory diagnostics. Teri’s love for dentistry and diagnostic cytology have driven her to continuously seek out special education and training in both areas of the veterinary field. As a licensed technician she has trained and overseen certification of many aspiring technician students for the past 30 years.
Teri is a mother to four young men with the youngest just graduating from New Lothrop High School. She and her husband Bob reside on a farm in rural Chesaning. Teri is also involved in several organizations including the Saginaw County Agricultural Society, a leader of the Saginaw County 4-H club, and a member of the IACUC board for the Owosso Baker Veterinary Technician Program. For the past couple years, Teri has provided many hours of volunteer work to the Saginaw County Fair and its ground’s gardens. At home, her hobbies include baking, gardening, and taking care of her pets and farm animals.
Mandy
Mandy (short for Amanda) is one of three licensed technicians of our healthcare team. She has been with us since 2016. One of her big roles in the clinic is assisting the doctors and monitoring your pet from pre-op to recovery for surgeries and dentals. In her free time, Mandy is an avid baker (in which we can reap the delicious benefits), and also loves reading. She has 2 daughters with her husband and a hound dog named Cooper who’s favorite activity is napping.
Courtney
Hi, I’m Courtney. I am one of the licensed veterinary nurses at Animal Health Care. I joined the healthcare team back in 2013 after graduating from Michigan State University. I grew up in Frankenmuth but have lived in the Chesaning area for the past 12 years.I have many “hats” that I wear at the clinic including assisting with out-patient appointments, leading the assistants with treatment protocols for hospitalized patients, and some more managerial roles. The thing that I always love coming back to is educating clients (seasoned or new) on preventive care and quality of life care for our more senior patients. At home, I am always running with my husband Josh to keep up with our three BUSY boys who love farm life. We have two house cats and many “in-law” cows that we help care for. I am hoping to add a few more species to our farm soon as my boys start 4-H livestock projects.
Mariah
Hello, my name is Mariah. I decided to stay on with Animal Health Care in 2020 as a veterinary assistant after starting my experience there during an externship. My favorite part of my job is helping nurse our admitted patients back to health and seeing how excited not only them, but their family get when they are reunited. While I love all our patients, I would say my favorite pet to see is goats. Outside of work, my daughter and I have lots of fur babies of our own that keep us on our toes.
Dani
Hi, my name is Dani. I’ve been a veterinary assistant at Animal Health Care since 2022. I have several “foster fails” that I’ve acquired since working at the clinic, including two cats and two dogs. The thing I like most about my job is how everyday is different. You never know what may come through the door and I love being kept on my toes. In my free time I enjoy reading, going to auctions, and snuggling my fur babies.
Kansas
Hello, I’m Kansas. I am a veterinary assistant and have been part of the health care team since 2021. My favorite thing about my job is getting to see all the sweet animals everyday and helping them stay happy and healthy. When I’m not at work I enjoy hanging out with my two dogs Remi and Tippy.
Ashlyn
Hi, my name is Ashlyn and I am a veterinary assistant. I’ve been working here since July of 2020. I have 2 indoor/ outdoor cats; Monroe and Norman, 2 dogs; a pit mix named Doogan, a dachshund Hank, and a turtle; Tiny. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my three wonderful children and doing all things outdoors. My time here at the clinic has been amazing! Every team member is so supportive and challenges me everyday to thrive in my personal roles and understand the medicine behind it. My favorite part about working here is helping owners help their pets. I do enjoy the diagnostics and assisting on the more difficult cases.
Liv
Olivia, or as we call her Liv, has been an assistant on our team since 2021. She started as a high schooler working a few hours after getting out of school and has continued balancing this job with her college courses. After working in many different areas in the office and on large animal calls, she is planning on pursuing a career in veterinary medicine. Ironically, Liv is allergic to both cats and dogs but loves the upbeat experience of the field compared to an office job.
Amber
Hello! I’m Amber and I have been a receptionist at the clinic for almost 5 years. I oftentimes might be the first person you talk to when calling the clinic or when you walk in the door. My favorite part of my job is the relationships I am able to build with both the pets and pet owners. When I am not in the clinic my favorite thing to do is reading and finding new adventures to make memories with my 2 children.
